All baptised Christians are called to be the face of God in their world, to be disciples of Jesus. Some Christian disciples take on their roles of discipleship in special ways. Bishops (including the Pope), priests and deacons take on leadership roles of serving their communities as they strive to make Christ present to the people of their communities and encourage them in their own roles as disciples of Jesus. They make a special commitment and are ordained through the Sacrament of Holy Orders. Married couples make commitments to serve each other, serve their families and in some ways to serve their communities. Married couples commit to their roles as married disciples of Jesus through the Sacrament of Marriage.
